Google Announces Launch Date for Pixel 8 Series
Mountain View, California: Google has officially revealed the launch date for its upcoming flagship smartphones, the Pixel 8 series. This series will succeed the Pixel 7 lineup released in October 2022 and will include both a base model and a Pro model. After weeks of speculation regarding key specifications and features, Google has confirmed the launch date for the Pixel 8 series, closely following Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 15 series launch date.
Launch Date Confirmation
In a video advertisement shared on Google’s official Made by Google Twitter handle (@madebygoogle), the company announced that the Pixel 8 series will be unveiled on October 4. This series is expected to feature the base Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro models. The launch event is reportedly scheduled to take place in New York at 10 AM local time.
Parallel Announcements
Interestingly, just one day earlier, Apple declared that the iPhone 15 series will be introduced on September 12 during an event called ‘Wonderlust,’ to be held at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. This event will also be livestreamed on apple.com and the Apple TV app at 10 AM local time.
Leaked Design and Features
A recent leaked image showcased the Pixel 8 Pro in a Porcelain White color. While it bore resemblance to the previous Pixel 7 Pro, the new design indicated that the triple rear camera system might be integrated into a single pill-shaped unit on the camera island.
A rumored teaser video hinted at a feature known as ‘Audio Magic Eraser,’ potentially present in the Pixel 8 series. The tagline “the only phone with Audio Magic Eraser” accompanied the familiar Pixel tagline “the only phone engineered by Google.” This feature could enable users to remove unwanted audio from video clips.
Although speculations have circulated about AI-powered cameras and an updated user interface for Google’s camera application in the Pixel 8 series, the company has yet to officially confirm these features.
