In June 1964, Shastri became Prime Minister of India, succeeding Jawaharlal Nehru. The India–Pakistan War of 1965 occurred during his tenure, where Shastri's calm and firm leadership earned him the title of “Man of Peace”.

According to the information, Lal Bahadur Shastri's life ended due to a tragic accident which led to his unexpected death. He is said to have died in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on January 11, 1966, soon after the signing of the Tashkent Agreement.
