The accused used to take Rs 4 lakh from the candidates in the name of recruitment. Out of this, Rs 1 lakh was given to the Postal Superintendent for document verification. The accused are accused of preparing fake certificates in connivance with the Postal Superintendent of Aligarh to get the candidates employed on the post of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS). A report has been registered against the accused in the Civil Line police station and they are being interrogated.

STF SP Brijesh Kumar Singh said that the recruitment process of Gramin Dak Sevak is going on in the Postal Department for 44,228 posts in the entire country and for 5,000 posts in UP. The notification was issued on 15 July 2024. The merit list was released on 23 August 2024. Document verification is taking place in various districts of UP from August 30.
Till now the accused has got the documents of 20 candidates verified in different districts. He told that the gang was being run by Sajid of Amroha and Saqib of Hapur. He used to prepare fake documents against Sajid Ali and upload them in online data. Whereas Saqib used to bring the candidates. In the entire scam, the driver of Mainpuri Postal Superintendent Vikal Yadav used to arrange in the department.
Sajid used to go to meet Devendra Kumar, who was the Postal Superintendent in 2023 (who is currently the Chief Postal Superintendent of Jhansi, Jhansi). During that time he met Vikal. Vikal currently drives the car of Postal Superintendent Sanjay Kumar Singh, posted in Aligarh. Sajid told Vikal that the date of document verification for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevak is about to come. Vikal agreed with Sajid on Rs 1 lakh per candidate for document verification. When Vikal told this to Postal Superintendent Sanjay Kumar Singh, he agreed to verify the document.
He had got some of these candidates verified at the first level. Now the process of second level verification is going on. The gang members used to collect Rs 4 lakh from the candidates in the name of providing them jobs. SP City Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said that a report has been registered against all the accused at Civil Lines police station. Interrogation of the accused is going on.
