Thiruvananthapuram: In a moment of suspense followed by excitement, it was disclosed that four friends from Tamil Nadu emerged as winners of this year’s Thiruvonam bumper lottery. The winners, hailing from Thirupur, arrived at the lottery department office in Thiruvananthapuram and presented the first prize-winning ticket, which carried a whopping of Rs 25 crore lottery.

While the winners’ identities remain undisclosed, a lottery department official confirmed their preference for anonymity. The friends had purchased the winning ticket in Walayar while returning from visiting a friend undergoing treatment at a hospital in Palakkad. The ticket was sold by Bava Agency in Walayar.
Mystery Surrounding Winners
The lucky draw had taken place on Wednesday, but the winners’ details were initially shrouded in mystery. Early reports suggested that one of the winners was Natarajan, also from Tamil Nadu, but they chose to keep their identities concealed.
Prize and Eligibility
The group had bought three Thiruvonam bumper lottery tickets, and one of them turned out to be the first prize winner with the number TE 230662. After tax deductions, they are eligible for approximately Rs 12.89 crore.
Claiming the Prize
The lottery department clarified that non-Keralites are eligible to claim the prize as long as the ticket is purchased in Kerala, and they can provide notarized documents to prove their identity. Given that there are four winners, they will need to establish a joint account.
