New Delhi. An alert news has come for the customers ordering products online from other e-commerce sites including Amazon and Flipkart. E-commerce site Amazon and one of its retailers have been fined Rs 35,000 for service lapses. The Consumer Commission found that the online platform did not have a proper grievance redressal mechanism and had 'one-sidedly oppressive' selling terms. The Commission has also directed Amazon to provide an infallible and transparent complaint redressal mechanism to customers. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (East Delhi) was hearing the complaint of a person for inordinate delay of about one year and 5 months in refunding the price of a defective laptop.

The complaint states that the laptop worth Rs 77,990, ordered through Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd, was sold by retailer Apario Retail Pvt Ltd. The complaint states that the delay in getting the refund for the product caused mental agony and harassment to the consumer.

Commission scolded Amazon
“This Commission is of the firm view that Amazon, which accepts orders from customers, places the orders on third parties and concludes the contract after the goods are delivered, is not a simple intermediary,” the commission headed by SS Malhotra said. Is.''

Members Rashmi Bansal and Ravi Kumar were also included in the commission. The Commission took note of the evidence before it, according to which “the complainant's money was returned after about a year and five months, after several demands for refund.” The commission has also asked him to pay Rs 10,000 as litigation cost.
