Fire Incident at Madhya Pradesh Secretariat Building in Bhopal Declared ‘Under Control’

A fire broke out on the third floor of the Vallabh Bhavan state secretariat building in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday, prompting a swift response from multiple fire tenders.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated, “I have been informed about a fire on the third floor of the old section of Vallabh Bhavan. Acting on the Collector’s report, I instructed the CS to oversee the situation, gather detailed information, and I am pleased to share that the fire is now under control.”

“We have issued directives to prevent the recurrence of such incidents… and I am hopeful that such incidents will not happen again,” added CM Yadav.

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, according to officials.

Sanitation workers noticed smoke at Vallabh Bhawan, the official name for the secretariat building, around 9:30 am, leading to the immediate alerting of the fire brigade.

“The firefighters have successfully contained the blaze, and ongoing efforts are in progress. Currently, only smoke is emanating from the third floor, where documents are stored,” informed Rameshwar Neel, the Fire Officer of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, to PTI.

Approximately 15 to 20 fire tenders have been deployed to manage the situation, added Neel.

Sanitation workers stationed near gates numbers 5 and 6 of the secretariat complex detected the smoke and promptly alerted the authorities, ensuring a quick response to the situation.
