Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman surprised and engaged with Mumbai locals today by taking a local train from Ghatkopar to Kalyan, spanning two suburban areas. This unique experience for the passengers included selfies and interactions with the minister during the commute.

Mumbai’s local trains, renowned as the city’s lifeline, carry a massive load of over 60 lakh passengers daily. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has previously emphasized the importance of public transport by taking similar journeys. Last year, he inaugurated new services in the Mumbai Metro and traveled between Gundavali and Mogra stations, accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
