Highlighting its unwavering commitment to transparency, the Election Commission emphasized its stance favoring disclosure, as echoed in the recent proceedings of the Supreme Court.

Following suit, the State Bank of India submitted a compliance affidavit to the Supreme Court, confirming the comprehensive provision of electoral bonds data to the ECI. The information disclosed includes purchase dates, purchaser identities, and bond denominations.

Electoral bonds have been under intense scrutiny due to their utilization by both individuals and corporations for anonymous donations to political parties.

Previously, the Supreme Court mandated SBI to furnish detailed data to the Election Commission, aiming to bolster transparency and accountability in political funding. This includes information on purchasers, bond encashment dates, and recipient political parties.

The release of this data is a proactive measure aimed at enhancing the transparency of political contributions and ensuring accountability in the utilization of funds, thereby fostering a more transparent electoral process.
