DU Teacher Recruitment 2024: The recruitment process in 12 colleges of Delhi University is now expected to start. The administration will soon ask all the colleges to issue advertisements. During the meeting of DU's Academic Council, Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that the Delhi government gives 100 percent funds to 12 colleges. Regarding the recruitment process of teachers in these colleges, the colleges will be asked to issue advertisements for appointment to vacant posts by July 31.
DU recruitment: No permanent appointment for 10 years
The process of appointment of teachers in DU has been going on since last year, but it is still awaited in these colleges.
The Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) says the condition of the colleges is bad due to fund cuts and privatisation efforts by the Delhi government, which has led to a 50 per cent reduction in funds in the last five years. These DU colleges have not been able to make a single permanent appointment of teachers or non-teaching staff for 10 years or more. The remaining 53 colleges have completed this process in the last two years.
There will be no classes in the new session: DUTA
DUTA President A.K. Bhagi says that in the coming session, classes of about 50 percent of students are likely to be affected or not resumed. Because there are only 824 teachers against 1512 teachers. Out of these, 528 are permanent and 296 are ad-hoc teachers. Against 1366 non-teaching staff in colleges, there are only 483 permanent and 285 contractual employees.
DUTA demands that these colleges be taken away from the Delhi government and brought under UGC funding. DUTA President said that DU, LG, UGC and MOE should take a strict decision on this. The remaining 20 colleges which are already funded by UGC should be taken under DU.
