You have seen stunts and action since childhood as your father was an action director. What attracted you to this in your childhood that made you turn to it? Maybe your family members also refused to do it considering the risk involved in it?
No, it never happened. Risk was never discussed in our house. My father was an action director. My mother was also into action, so since childhood it was in my mind that I will do the same. I always felt that this is our work, so I also adopted my father's profession and no one stopped me, because there was positivity about it in our house. My parents believed that we did this, if you also want to do the same then do it.

You gave a new height to action in films, but also kept a desi touch in it. Now there is a race to copy the Hollywood style in action. Foreign action directors are coming. What is your opinion on this?
I think this change is necessary. Every director has his own vision and if he wants to upgrade the stunts then it is fine. The team comes from Hollywood or South Africa. They also come to our films because it is important to take the action to a new level. Now our audience is changing. They are getting a lot of exposure so there is competition too, so it is a good thing that the action is getting bigger, it is happening on a bigger level, teams are coming from outside.
You said that today's actors shy away from sharing the screen. Whereas in your Singham Again, along with Ajay Devgan, there are Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff. There are also Kareena and Deepika. Has their thinking changed now? And was it a challenge for you to handle everyone together?
I cannot say about the actors whether their thinking has changed or not. We first started Cop Universe and since then Akshay, Ranveer and Ajay sir were together, Kareena was also there. Now this team is growing. As far as managing everyone is concerned, I never felt like that because everyone was working for the film. Everyone was working for Singham, so I never felt that I will have to manage. This did not happen to me at all.
Meanwhile, the interest of the audience in theatres is decreasing. Even good films like Maidan and Sarivira are not getting audience. Don't you think this situation is worrying?
See, a phase comes and goes. We are going through a phase. There are many things involved in it. The market is involved, people's perspective is involved, their taste is involved and these tastes keep changing. Nothing works forever. Things keep changing with time. It is like a cycle that whatever goes, comes back in a new packaging. Of course, no one likes to go through a bad phase of cinema, but this is not the first time. It has come many times before, it will come and go in the future.
It has been 10 years since you have been hosting Khatron Ke Khiladi. In these ten years, has this show changed you in any way or taught you anything?
I have received a lot of love in these ten years. I am very lucky that I have been hosting this show for 10 years. It has been an amazing journey. When I started, I never thought that I would host this show for 10 years or that the audience would let me do it. I am happy that they are liking the show, they like me, so we try to work harder than the love they give us. Like, this time we have kept 90 percent of the stunts new. We wanted the audience to feel something new. Also, there is a lot of entertainment. As far as learning is concerned, a person keeps learning with time. When you do television, you develop a lot of patience. Many times you feel like doing something but you keep quiet (laughs).
In Bollywood, where friendships do not last long, your and Ajay Devgan's 33-year-old friendship is an example. What is the secret of this unbreakable relationship?
We share a relationship of elder brother and younger brother rather than friendship. He is like my elder brother, in fact he is my elder brother. Whatever I am today, he has contributed a lot to it. From my first film to Singham or Singham Again, which is being made, he has played a very big role in my career. He always treats me like his younger brother, I also treat him like my elder brother and this relationship is not going to change even after 33 years.
