Can't let talent go to waste… Best wishes, Supreme Court directs Dalit students to get admission in IITs.

New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Monday used its extraordinary power to direct IIT Dhanbad to grant admission to a Dalit student. This student had to lose his seat due to missing the deadline for depositing fees. Rs 17,500…this was the fee a Dalit student had to pay to secure his admission in IIT Dhanbad. The student from Uttar Pradesh had four days to deposit the fees. The student's father, a daily wage laborer, tried his best but missed the deadline to deposit the fees. The student's dream of going to IIT was dashed. After this the student's father took the fight to the court. For three months the father made rounds of SC/ST Commission, Jharkhand and Madras High Court. Finally, when nothing worked, he approached the Supreme Court. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud ordered the IIT to admit the student.
