New Delhi: The Supreme Court has taken the Isha Foundation case into its hands. This case was going on in Madras High Court. Isha Foundation has been accused of allegedly illegally detaining two women. The Supreme Court has put this matter on police investigation. On Thursday, CJI DY Chandrachud himself spoke to both the sadhvis in the Supreme Court.

CJI talked to both the women

A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra heard the case. The court spoke to both the women virtually. After the conversation, the bench said that both the women claimed that they were living in the ashram of their own free will. The bench said in its order, 'The court has spoken to both the persons. During the conversation, both of them told that they had joined the ashram at the age of 24 and 27.

The family had filed such a petition earlier also

The bench said that both the women have stated that they are free to move out of the ashram and have done so from time to time and their parents have also been coming there to meet them. It said one of the two men said they had also participated in a marathon organized in Hyderabad. The court said it was stated before it that the mother of both the persons had filed a similar petition about eight years ago, in which the father had also joined.

'Isha is in the Yoga Center on her own will'

The court said, 'During the hearing, we were of the view that it would be appropriate for this court to speak to both the women concerned and we have done so during the in-room online hearing.' The bench was told that both the women were present in the court through video conference. The bench spoke briefly to a woman in the open court and asked, 'Are you aware of the fact that your father has filed a habeas corpus petition?' The woman replied, 'Yes.' We had appeared in the High Court in this matter and had said that we are in Isha Yoga Center on our own free will.

Let us tell you that on September 30, Madras High Court ordered Dr. S. An interim order was passed on the habeas corpus petition filed by Kamaraj, in which he had requested to direct the police to produce both his daughters before the court. About whom he alleges that he has been kept hostage inside the Isha Foundation and should be released.
