Shashi Tharoor took a dig at the budget
He claimed that this budget has made it quite clear that the BJP has no ideas. Tharoor said that their priorities revolve mainly around pleasing their two allies. They forget that there are 26 other states and 8 Union Territories whose people have nothing to be happy about. He said that Bihar has got Rs 26,000 crore for highways, but Karnataka got nothing for important road projects in Bengaluru. Referring to the state of the economy, Shashi Tharoor said that people do not have money to buy clothes, but the purchase of SUVs is increasing.
Shashi Tharoor asked a question to the central government
He said that Rs 5000 crore is spent on a wedding in the country, but many people in the same city are struggling for livelihood. He questioned where have the jobs increased after the reduction in corporate tax? The Congress MP claimed that due to the reduction in corporate tax, Rs 8.7 lakh crore has gone into the pockets of billionaires. Shashi Tharoor said that the government could have solved issues like roti, kapda and makaan for the needy with this amount. The people of the country are surprised by the reduction in corporate tax and increase in personal income tax. He claimed that this government has mastered hiding data.
'There is nothing concrete for the common people in the budget'
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor further said that there is nothing concrete for the common people in this budget. Tharoor said that not enough money is being spent on health, while many developing countries are spending much more than India. He said that the election results of Uttar Pradesh show that BJP should not use the temple for political purposes. Shashi Tharoor quipped that the government could not fix the economy, but it 'increased the volume of the horn.'
He claimed that there is a terrible unemployment crisis in this government. The claim of creating eight crore jobs is wrong because it also includes unpaid employment. Referring to the internship scheme in the budget, he said that it is a good thing that after losing the majority, the BJP has started listening to us. On abolishing the angel tax, Tharoor said that it is better late than never. Tharoor said that this budget is not for a developed India and it lacks direction and goals.
