In a crucial update for all bank account holders, it has been announced that banks will be closed for an extended BANK HOLIDAY IN FEBRUARY 2024 between the 14th and 26th of February 2024. This closure encompasses various state-specific holidays, including weekends, making it essential for customers to promptly complete any pending banking transactions.

While online services will remain operational, it is advisable to address tasks such as checkbook requests and other in-branch services before the upcoming bank holidays.

Online Services Remain Accessible

During the bank closure, customers can leverage online services without interruption. Digital services like UPI, mobile banking, and internet banking will continue to function seamlessly, allowing users to carry out essential transactions.

Money transfers via UPI and cash withdrawals from ATMs will be unaffected, providing convenience to users even during the closure period. Additionally, various online channels such as net banking, ATM usage, and digital payments will be available for users to manage their banking needs.

Banking Holidays Categories

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) classifies banking holidays into three categories. These include holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays specific to real-time gross settlement, and general bank closure days.

  • February 14, 2024: Banks closed in Tripura, Orissa, and West Bengal due to Basant Panchami or Saraswati Puja.
  • February 15, 2024: Banks closed in Manipur due to Lui-Ngai-Ni.
  • February 18, 2024: Sunday, banks closed across the country.
  • February 19, 2024: Banks closed in Maharashtra due to Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti.
  • February 20, 2024: Banks remained closed in Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh due to Statehood Day.
  • February 24, 2024: Banks closed on the second Saturday.
  • February 25, 2024: Sunday, banks closed across the country.
  • February 26, 2024: Banks in Arunachal Pradesh due to Nyakum.
