BA course starts in Delhi Teachers University, CUET is not necessary, admission will be done directly on the basis of 12th marks

Undergraduate courses will now also be started in Delhi Teachers University (DTU). The university is starting it with BA Education Honors course. This course has been designed under the National Education Policy (NEP). The university is currently running Master of Arts-Education (M.Ed) course, for which the admission process is going on these days.

DTU: PhD course after BA Education

Delhi Teachers University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dhananjay Joshi says, 'This time we have the second year of MA Education course and now we are starting BA Honours Education. It has been prepared under the National Education Policy. It is a four-year course.'

He said that 'BA Education course is being run in only a few institutes in the country. In such a situation, this new course will bring special opportunities for the students of Delhi. After completing a four-year UG course, the students will have only one year of PG course i.e. MA Education. Under the new decision of UGC, they will be able to apply for PhD after four years of UG. Delhi Teachers University will also start PhD program in future.'

50 seats in first year of DTU BA Education

This year 50 seats have been reserved for BA Honors Education. This year admissions will be based on merit i.e. 12th marks. In future, the university may consider admission through Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The registration process for this course will start in August.

The university also offers two online certificate programs:

  • Certificate Programme in School Education
  • Certificate Programme in Higher Education Pedagogy

The university's list also includes other courses, which will be offered after getting approval from the concerned regulatory body. These include four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), B.Ed, M.Ed.

Land allotted for DTU campus in Narela

This university of Delhi Government is currently running from its temporary campus in Outram Lane of Mukherjee Nagar. Its main campus will be built in Narela. The VC said that 12.5 acres of land has been allotted to the university by DDA and construction can start from this year itself. Delhi Teachers University will start in 2022. Established with the objective of preparing excellent school teachers and giving information about new methods and activities related to teaching to teachers of higher education institutions, this university is currently running M.Ed. course and two certificate courses.
