New Delhi: Voting for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections has been completed across the country. Lakhs of people cast their votes amidst scorching heat in many parts of the country. Voting took place on 58 seats in six states and two union territories on Saturday. According to the assessment till 8.45 pm, 59.6 percent voting took place in the sixth phase. Voting also took place on all seven seats of Delhi today. The highest voting took place in West Bengal while the lowest voting took place in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the voting percentage in Jammu and Kashmir has increased significantly compared to the previous elections.

  • Haryana – 58.37
  • Jammu and Kashmir – 52.28
  • Jharkhand – 62.74
  • Delhi – 54.48

  • Uttar Pradesh – 54.03
  • West Bengal – 78.19

Record voting in Jammu and Kashmir
A total of 58 percent voting took place in the 5 Lok Sabha seats of Jammu and Kashmir. This was the highest voter turnout in 35 years. This is 9 percent more than the previous highest voting recorded in 2014. 53 percent voting took place in Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat.

Many big leaders voted
Voting took place on all the seats of Delhi today in the sixth phase. Many big leaders came to Delhi to vote. These include President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Incidents of violence in West Bengal
Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from some areas of the eight Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, out of the eight seats, the BJP won five and the TMC won three.
