This pink polling station is being run entirely by women. Election officials present at the polling stations briefed the delegation about the voting process. This is perhaps the first time since the rise of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir that foreign observers have been allowed to observe elections.

After good voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year, the Centre had invited foreign delegates to showcase the peaceful election process. Elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases. In the first phase, voting was held on 24 seats on September 18. In the second phase, voting was held on 26 seats on Wednesday. In the third phase, voting will be held on 40 seats on October 1. The counting of votes cast in all the three phases will take place on October 8.
