New Delhi: A female employee of SpiceJet slapped an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) posted at Jaipur airport. The incident, captured in CCTV footage, created a sensation. SpiceJet said that the ASI sexually harassed its female employee Anuradha Rani. The company said in a statement that the ASI called Anuradha to his house after her duty was over. However, sources say that Anuradha Rani's stubborn attitude was the root cause of the entire incident. English news website NDTV.com has reported, quoting police sources, that the dispute occurred because Anuradha Rani refused to undergo security check at the side gate of the airport.
Who is Anuradha Rani, what is the controversy?
Anuradha Rani is a part of SpiceJet's ground staff team who delivers food items to the flight. Food items are brought from the side gate only. On Thursday, when Anuradha reached the side gate, she refused to undergo security check as there was no woman constable there at that time. Although she had all the necessary documents for entry, she was not ready to show them. When a dispute arose over this, CISF jawans were sent to call a woman constable from inside. Sources said that by then the matter escalated and Anuradha slapped the ASI deployed on the spot. The incident happened around 4 am on Thursday.
A case was filed against Anuradha, in return Anuradha also filed a case
By the time Anuradha slapped the man, a woman security guard had reached the gate and caught him. Anuradha was removed from there and arrested. Anuradha has been booked under Section 121(1) and Section 132 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). Section 121(1) deals with obstructing a government servant in the discharge of his duties and Section 132 deals with assaulting a government servant. However, Anuradha has also filed a case against the CISF ASI for misbehaving and making obscene remarks.
