Today, all the big actresses from Deepika Padukone to Alia Bhatt charge around Rs 20-25 crore for their films. However, the situation was different earlier. In those days, neither the right roles were written for the actresses nor their salary was decent. They always had to struggle with financial crunch. Once in her interview, 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' actress Mandakini spoke very openly on this issue and told what conditions the actresses had to go through in those days.
The 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' actress did films like 'Dance Dance' with Mithun Chakraborty, 'Kahaan Hai Kanoon' with Aditya Pancholi and 'Pyar Karke Dekho' with Govinda and then moved away from the industry. Recalling the past some time ago, she told in an interview that at that time there used to be a huge difference in the salary of the hero and heroine and how the directors used to keep pressure on them.
'With what mindset did the director and producer work?'
While talking to Pinkvilla, Mandikini had said, 'Suppose someone told me about a film and I said yes to it. After this, in just 2-3 days, he would announce signing a film with someone else. She would say that we just have to do 2-3 songs, if she doesn't do it, she will do it. Whoever gets the lowest price, should take it.' The actress had told that at that time, directors and producers used to work with this mentality.
Fee for the entire film is only 1 to 1.5 lakh rupees
She told that at that time actresses used to get only 1 to 1.5 lakh rupees for the entire film. Mandakini also told that many times directors and producers would tell her that she charges 1.5 lakh rupees and so they would replace her with someone else who would agree to do the role for Rs 75,000.
