According to IMD, the South Peninsula may receive 112 percent of normal rainfall during this period. Normally 334.13 mm rainfall occurs during this period. Rainfall is expected to be normal or below normal in most parts of the country. At the same time, 115 percent rainfall is expected across the country in October. The average rainfall during October is 75.4 mm. Despite this, there is a possibility of less rain in North-East and North-West India.

This monsoon season, 1492 people lost their lives in natural disasters and extreme weather events across the country. 17 people died due to heat wave
According to IMD, 17 people died due to heat wave. Of these, 13 deaths occurred in Jharkhand and four in Rajasthan. These deaths occurred at the beginning of the monsoon season. 397 people lost their lives in the land slide that occurred on July 30 in Wayanad district of Kerala. There were 102 deaths in Assam and 100 in Madhya Pradesh. There were 13 deaths due to floods and rains in the capital Delhi. Maximum 189 deaths due to lightning and storm occurred in Madhya Pradesh, followed by 138 in Uttar Pradesh, 61 in Bihar and 53 in Jharkhand.
