Taking a big decision, the Central Government has increased the minimum wages of workers. This increase has been made by changing the 'Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA)'. This will benefit the employees working in government sectors. These include construction workers, load-loaders, security guards, sanitation workers, mining and farming workers.

After the new change in rates, rates have been fixed for works like construction work, cleaning, loading and unloading in 'A' category areas.
unskilled worker You will get ₹783 per day (₹20,358 per month).

Skilled clerks and unarmed security guards You will get ₹ 954 per day (₹ 24,804 per month).

The Ministry of Labor and Employment said that this decision has been taken to help the workers struggling with inflation. The new wage rates will be applicable from October 1, 2024. Earlier, the wage rates were revised in April 2024. VDA changes twice a year. This comes into effect from 1 April and 1 October.
