Shila is one of the biggest pilgrimage sites
According to Shri Giriraj Khand of Garg Samhita, Govardhan Mountain is the most important of all the pilgrimages. Vrindavan is the abode of Krishna, while Govardhan Mountain is respected as his crown. Therefore, it is counted among the major and biggest pilgrimages. Not only this, Shri Krishna used to play with cowherds here. It is believed that just by touching or seeing the crown of Shri Krishna, all the troubles of the devotees are removed. Visiting Govardhan gives many times more benefits.
This is the story of the formation of Govardhan mountain
According to many scholars in Garg Samhita, Giriraj Ji should never be brought home. He is considered the crown of Vrindavan. It is believed that Radha Rani cannot live without Giriraj mountain, it is known from many stories that before being born on earth, Radha Rani had told Shri Krishna that she wanted a place on earth where she could find peace. After this, Shri Krishna looked towards his heart, after which a bright ray of light came out from there and then Govardhan mountain was formed from it. The beauty of this mountain was different from all others.
That is why Giriraj mountain should not be brought home
You can bring home the soil of Mathura Vrindavan, but you cannot bring home even a small stone from Giriraj Mountain, even by mistake. Because Giriraj is the crown of Vrindavan and Radha Rani loved Giriraj Mountain very much, she cannot live without it. This mountain is also very dear to Shri Krishna and is like a crown on his head. According to the stories, Giriraj should never be taken out of 84 Kos. It is believed that if a person does this, then his happiness and peace can be snatched away.
