New Delhi : The second phase of voting for the three-phase elections for 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir also concluded peacefully on Wednesday. However, by 7 pm it fell far below 60 per cent to 54.11 per cent. But this figure of voting is being said to be more than the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the second phase, the highest 71.81 per cent voting for 26 seats in six districts was recorded in Reasi district where terrorists attacked a bus of pilgrims on June 9. The lowest 27.37 votes were cast in eight seats of Srinagar district.
Record voting in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat
The Election Commission said that apart from districts, if we look at the voting in the assembly seats, out of the 26 assembly seats, the highest number of votes were cast on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat of Reasi district, a record 75.29 percent. While the lowest 15.80 percent votes were cast on the Habbakadal seat of Srinagar district. However, the commission says that even though the lowest voting was in Srinagar district, this voting was more than the assembly elections held in 2014, which is a record. Otherwise, before this, in many areas of this district, people usually boycotted the voting or were threatened not to vote. However, nothing like this happened this time.

vote peacefully
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that as I had said earlier, in this celebration of democracy, the world will see the story of defeating evil intentions. This proved to be true and he called it Jashn-e-Jamhooriyat. CEO of Jammu and Kashmir PK Pole has also expressed happiness over the peaceful completion of elections. Officials said that there was no by-election at any polling station in the first phase. There is no information about the need for re-election at any center in the second phase as well.
106 border polling stations near LoC
The commission said that long queues of voters could be seen at polling stations since morning to cast their votes. 106 border polling stations were set up near the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts. Here too peaceful voting took place. While 13 polling stations were also set up across the fencing. Everything went well here too. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the voters of Jammu and Kashmir created history by adopting the democratic process instead of violence and boycott.
