To how many countries is India exporting military equipment? Defense Minister told


New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said India's defence production is set to touch an all-time high of Rs 1.27 lakh crore in value terms in 2023-24 and it is now exporting arms and military hardware to over 90 friendly countries. In a post on social media platform X on the 10th anniversary of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's 'Make in India' programme, the minister said the Indian armed forces are now using weapons and hardware manufactured on Indian soil and the country is emerging in the global defence industrial landscape.

Rajnath Singh said that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government launched the Make in India programme with the aim of making the country self-reliant in every sector. He said that in the 10 years since then, many reforms have been made in every sector including defence. India is emerging in the defence industrial scenario of the world.
The Defence Minister said that today the Indian Armed Forces are using weapons and equipment made on our soil and we are also exporting defence material to more than 90 friendly countries. In the last few years, the government has taken several steps to promote the domestic defence industry. The focus has been on promoting domestic defence manufacturing and strengthening military preparedness, especially in areas located on the border with China.
