Influx of 30 Thousand Tourist Vehicles Signals Hope

Extended Operational Hours for Eateries

To further facilitate visitors to the state, the government has allowed all restaurants, dhabas, and food shops in Himachal Pradesh to remain open 24 hours a day from December 20, 2023, to January 5, 2024.

Shimla Winter Carnival Inauguration

The Chief Minister made these announcements during the inauguration of the ‘Shimla Winter Carnival.’ The event commenced with a cultural parade and the participation of 450 women presenting Mahanati, showcasing the talent of Self Help Groups and Anganwadi workers. The carnival, scheduled to run until January 5, promises a vibrant celebration of Himachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage, featuring local cuisine, laser shows, and various cultural programs.

Aerial Ropeway Project

One of the significant highlights of the event was the announcement of a proposed 1.1 km aerial ropeway project with an estimated budget of Rs 76.50 crore. This project aims to redefine connectivity and accessibility to the site, demonstrating the government’s commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure. Chief Minister Sukhu enthusiastically shared details, mentioning the ropeway’s capacity to carry 700 passengers per hour in each direction. The project not only aims to improve the pilgrimage experience but is also expected to generate ample employment opportunities for the local youth.

Historic Winter Carnival in Shimla

Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized that the Winter Carnival in Shimla is a historic moment for the city, geared towards promoting tourism activities in the state. Despite the adverse impact of the recent monsoon outbreak on the tourism sector, the state has successfully recovered due to the collaborative efforts of cabinet colleagues and various departments.

Exhibition Inauguration

During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated an exhibition on the Ridge, featuring stalls from the District Administration Shimla and various departments. The exhibition is an integral part of the Winter Carnival, offering visitors a glimpse into the diverse offerings and initiatives within the region.

Cultural Programs

The festivities included cultural programs such as Kullavi Nati and Singtu from Sirmaur district, adding to the cultural richness of the event.
